Well, it's been three weeks since Dylan had his dew claws and the lump off. All has healed really well, I took the stitches out last Tuesday and since yesterday, he is off lead again in the park.
On Sunday, I noticed two quite large sores on his shoulder which look a bit like a vampire bite. LOL. I think it's probably an injection site reaction. I have put on Fuciderm cream for a couple of days and it all looks dry and tidy now so will just watch it now and see how it goes.

Dylan's dewclaw and lump
On Wednesday evening, Dylan injured his dewclaw and we decided to remove it together with the other one to prevent further injuries. At the same time I asked Mark to also remove the larger lump on his chest so this doesn't have to be done at a later date. Dylan also got a dental while under especially around his damaged tooth as plaque builds up quicker there.
So here he is, recovering really well as usual - and it was also nice to hear from a customer at the vet's that they thought Dylan was a spring chicken, not an old dog. Yipee... he really has so much energy since being on Markus Mühle food, so we are really happy with that (he is still on half raw too).

Mouth ulcer
I spotted a lesion in Dylan's mouth a few days ago and watched it. I thought it was an ulcer, though I wasn't sure whether it was that or just discoloured skin. I took him to see Mark today and it is indeed an ulcer. Mark has put him on Baytril. The ulcer doesn't seem to bother Dylan at all, but I know from my own experience how uncomfortable and painful a mouth ulcer is.

Birthday Party
On Saturday, 25th June, Dylan and I had our birthday party - we are now 50 together! LOL
Aunty Karen made him (and me) a lovely birthday cake! And here are some pictures:

Dylan and Jesse playing this morning
Dylan and Jesse have a strange way of playing with each other... well, actually, it's the lurcher way to play and Jesse goes along with it.
I have video's them this morning.

Rehab completed!
Dylan had his very last hydrotherapy session on Saturday and is now considered fully recovered! And going by his energy levels and his running around you'd never know he ever had anything done.
I gave Gemma and the girls at Hydro Hounds a thank you card as they really were brilliant.
And touch wood, so far, the other knee (where the cruciate is also slightly damaged) is still holding well too.

Back to normal now with exercise, but still troublesome tooth
Since 17th March, when Dylan's new insurance year started, he is now back to normal with exercise and off lead all round the park. He is enjoying it.
He does currently slow down a little at the end of the walk, so not sure whether one of the backlegs is still uncomfortable... He also doesn't always shift all the weight onto the operated leg. We'll see how he does over the next few weeks and reassess. For now, we are happy about how well he is doing.
He also had his chiro session yesterday and he will have two more hydro sessions, then he will have finished the rehab too.
His tooth however is less successful as the filling has already come out yet again yesterday after John Sauvage redid the filling on 4th March. So the next step is extracting the tooth. I will see how quickly John Sauvage wants to do this or whether he thinks we should leave it for a bit.
I am a bit reluctant for both leaving it and extracting it. With leaving it I can't be sure that he isn't in some kind of discomfort, and extracting is of course a pretty big job, so definitely needs to be considered carefully too...
Poor old Dylan. :-)

Just got an email back from John Sauvage and he said that last time he saw him, the tooth and gums looked well healed and we should leave well alone to be rechecked in 3 - 6 months. So that's what we'll do.

Dylan off lead
For the first time this morning, I let Dylan go off lead in the park. He really enjoyed himself and took off immediately at 100 mph after Flash. Then he stopped and looked back with a huge grin on his face! He loved it.
I won't let him off for full walks yet, just a few minutes at the time and when there is little chance that he will go off chasing things. But I need to get him started so today was the day!

Tooth to be fixed in March
John, the vet, can't do the tooth until 4th March, so that's when Dylan is booked in. In the mean time I apply Dentisept toothpaste to the tooth everyday to keep it clean and prevent any infection.

Broken again
Dylan's filling came off on Sunday, 30th January. So I have contacted John again and he said he would like to give it another go as the gums are not inflamed and bleeding so much now. So I will book Dylan in for next Friday to have it done again.

Tooth fixed
Well, Dylan went to the dentist on Friday, 21st January. It is John Sauvage in Cranbook that did the dental. The tooth is filled now and looks good. Dylan is definitely a lot more comfortable again.
The vet, John, said that there is no guarantee that the tooth will hold, but if it doesn't, then he will do the extraction for free. I will not give Dylan bones anymore, so hopefully it will be ok. Even if not, it is worth a try.
Dylan was very whingy after the procedure on Friday when we were at Karen's for the rest of the day, but by the evening he was ok again. Saturday he was fine and we went to hydrotherapy - though we kept it light and short for him.
Yesterday, 25th, we went back to Cranbrook for the check up and John was very pleased with the outcome.

Dylan's tooth can be saved
I got a call from Mark today and he said that his friend, the dental specialist, said that the tooth could be saved. So I called that surgery immediately and booked an appointment for Friday. So Dylan is off to Cranbrook on Friday to get his tooth fixed. I am so glad that it doesn't have to be extracted.

Dylan's molar
I took Dylan to see Mark this morning as his broken molar is covered in plaque and doesn't look good. Mark wasn't happy with what he saw. He pulled the slither or tooth off and I've got some antibiotics for Dylan.
Mark will talk to a friend of his who is a dental specialist whether anything can be done. Perhaps the tooth needs to come out after all. And a little perhaps it can stay as it is... (unlikely though).
After a bit of research I have just found that this type of fracture is called a slap fracture!
